Shakira to Shake It in Bollywood Film
By WENN | Monday, September 04, 2006
HOLLYWOOD - Colombian singing sensation Shakira is set to shake her hips in the Bollywood film Om Shanti Om after being inspired by her Indian-themed performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last Thursday.
Shakira and her dancers performed a hip-shaking, Bollywood-inspired rendition of “Hips Don't Lie” at the ceremony last week.
The singer was so impressed while working with top Bollywood choreographer Farah Kahn during rehearsals for the show she asked if she could dance in her new movie.
The Indian choreographer-filmmaker will begin shooting later this year, telling the Times of India, "Right now, it is just that we have agreed to work with each other."
Bollywood's Hindi movies are known for their elaborate song-and-dance numbers.
Kahn said Shakira would be visiting India for a concert in March and that the movie's dance sequences could be shot at that time.
Kahn adds, "She is definitely clued in to Bollywood dance and wants me to incorporate it in her next music video which she wants he to direct for her."

Carmen Electra Biography
Once a protege of The Artist Formerly Known as Prince, sexy TV star Carmen Electra (a.k.a. the former Mrs. Dennis Rodman) flopped with her eponymous 1992 debut album produced by her mentor but scored mightily in 1996 by baring it all for the pages of Playboy and as one of the "Playboy Cheerleaders" in a best-selling video. After succeeding Jenny McCarthy as co-host of MTV's popular dating game show "Singled Out" in the spring of 1997, she was tapped to fill the void left by a departing Pamela Anderson on the syndicated "Baywatch" that fall, sizzling in her red bathing suit for one season as Lani McKensie while watching her "babe quotient" go through the roof....
